Artist Statement:
I am inpired by nature and literature. I love the challenge of interpreting thoughts and ideas through the manipulation of fibers and surface design. My recent works use primarily raw edge applique with occasional bead embellishments. As I continue my exploration of alternate techniques I look foraward to presenting new and inspiration expressions.
My background begins with sewing, knitting, and crocheting lessons give to me by my mother and grandmother. I have worked as a seamstress and wardrobe/costume designer. Several years ago, at my sister-in-law's urging, I attended a quilt show and became fascinated with the art quilts. I ahve been creating and experimenting with this art form ever since. My works have appeared in museums, galleries, and libraries in Massachusetts, North Carolina, and my native state of Connecticut.
